How this calculation works

Multiply a rectangular length and width measured in feet, then scale for identical rooms or panels. The result includes a conversion to square metres so a measurement can be compared with products sold in metric coverage units. For rooms with different dimensions, calculate each separately rather than using the quantity field as a room count for unequal spaces.

Area in ft² = length in feet × width in feet × quantity. Area in m² = ft² × 0.09290304. Both displayed areas are rounded to two decimal places.

Two identical rooms measuring 12 ft by 10 ft cover 12 × 10 × 2 = 240 ft². Multiplying by 0.09290304 gives 22.2967296 m², displayed as 22.30 m².

Assumptions and limits

  • Quantity repeats exactly the same rectangle; alcoves and excluded areas need separate measurements.
  • Enter decimal feet: an inches portion must be divided by twelve before adding it to the feet value. Waste and installation overlap are not included.
