How this calculation works
Estimate the payment for a chosen frequency instead of assuming every loan is paid monthly. This is useful when a quotation describes quarterly, half-yearly or annual instalments. Keep the annual rate’s convention consistent with the model: reducing interest divides the entered nominal annual rate by the number of payments per year, while flat interest uses principal for the whole term.
Worked example
This example uses illustrative inputs. Your current result is shown above.
For ₹1,00,000 at 8% nominal annual reducing-balance interest over one year with four payments per year, r = 8% ÷ 4 = 2% per quarter. Four payments of about ₹26,262.38 repay the loan. The unrounded schedule totals ₹1,05,049.50, including ₹5,049.50 interest.
Assumptions and limits
- Each repayment interval has equal model length and payments are at period-end; actual day counts are not used.
- The term must contain a whole number of payment periods. Changing frequency changes the interest period rather than merely dividing a monthly EMI.
Questions people ask
Can I divide a monthly EMI by two for fortnightly payments?
Not reliably. Payment frequency changes both the period rate and the number of payments. Enter the supported frequency and complete term directly.
Are fees included?
This tool has no fee input. Compare separately paid fees alongside the repayment total, or use a fee-aware loan tool for the appropriate scenario.
